After Kim Whanki died in New York in 1974, his wife Kim HyangAn spent two decades cataloguing what he had left — the paintings, but also the letters, writings and photographs — and gave all of it to the museum she founded. That work became its collection. Highlights II draws on it, centred on his New York years, and follows her eye rather than only his: what time and care went into keeping any of it at all.
- Most of his Tokyo years were lost in the war

- Built by his widow, who catalogued what was left
