The Seoul Museum of Craft Art has organized this exhibition in collaboration with the Oryundae Korean Martyrs Museum to commemorate both the 120th anniversary of the royal wedding ceremony of Emperor Sunjong and Empress Sunjeonghyo, held on what are now the museum’s grounds, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of the Blessed Korean Martyrs. . Amongst the traces of those lives embedded here, Folded Time, Unfolded Memory—Andong Palace focuses on the period surrounding the Korean Empire and this exhibition strives to decipher the changes of an era that extended from the Joseon Dynasty into the Korean Empire. Through this exhibition, visitors are invited to reflect on the ways in which craft transcends its era, mediates the memories of places and people, and creates new meanings.
