Full description from the venue
The Seoul Museum of Craft Art presents Equinox, an exhibition illuminating the work of Chang Eungbok, who has expanded the horizons of Korean craft culture by moving fluidly between design and craft. Chang has reinterpreted the aesthetic sensibilities of gyubang craft and Korean folk art as contemporary patterns. At the same time, she has brought together textiles and furniture, and the work of artisans and designers, exploring new ways of craft to be used and enjoyed in contemporary living spaces. For Chang, making is not simply about producing a finished work, but a process of creating new relationships and forms of order while preserving the distinctive qualities of different materials and techniques. As the autumn equinox approaches, when day and night become equal in length, we invite you into Equinox: a world of balance and harmony in which different elements come together while retaining their own distinct qualities.
